Sen. Akaka To Fast-Track Shinseki Hearings

The Senate Veterans Affairs Committee plans to hold a hearing on the presumptive nomination of former Army Chief of Staff Eric Shinseki for VA secretary. Sen. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii, chairman of the committee, says he will hold the hearing on Jan. 14, 2009, six days before Barack Obama is sworn in as the nation's 44th president.

Akaka said he decided to hold the hearing on Shinseki, a Hawaii native, before Inauguration Day, so the Senate can act on his nomination as soon as it is received, potentially the afternoon of Jan. 20. This may just set a new speed record for confirmations, which tend to move through the Senate at a glacial pace.

Akaka met with Shinseki on Dec. 10 and told him he considered mental health care a priority. "VA needs more doctors trained to treat invisible wounds such as post-traumatic stress disorder," Akaka said.

The quality of replica watches uk is unparalleled. But its features, quality, and cutting-edge designs come with a big price tag. For an average person, buying an authentic watch is simply not affordable.

I, believe that veterans, who go into any VA Healthcare facility, should obtain a copy of their VA Medical records, and a copy of the Patient Rights on VA Form 10-88. What I, am finding out is that there are physicians, who have tampered with my medical records on Active Duty, as well as in the VA Healthcare system, without my knowledge or consent, which would be a violation of "Patient Rights."  It would also be a violation of "Patient Rights" to diagnose someone with a mental disorder, without proper diagnostic testing, and a Mental Health Evaluation, which I happen to be a victim of. I hope that Eric Shinseki, will help to assist in a broken  VA Healthcare System, that was promised to the veterans. I am finding out that the current system is underfunded, and understaffed, as a result improper testing of  veterans have caused an increase of compromised health and safety. Hopefully, my complaint issues at the Denver VA, will be addressed an there will a closure in 2009. Veterans, must protect veterans, especially ...

Veterans, must protect veterans, especially when it comes to physicians, putting information into our medical records, without our knowledge and consent. This kind of behavior by physicians, is dangerous to the veterans health and safety.
